July 31, Berkeley, CA 1:30pm PDT

About 5,000 people gathered at Sproul Plaza on the campus of the University of California at 11am to protest the lockout of KPFA programmers. Unions, Farmer Workers, elected officials, and KPFA staff including fired Larry Bensky and Dennis Bernstein marched from Sproul Plaza, home of the Free Speech Movement, down Telegraph to KPFA's studios. The dispute is about who has ultimate authority over the programming of KPFA. Is it the local people or the people of Pacifica who have the legal title to the station?
